Food Safety Guideline Food Pantry Application
Capital Roots, as part of the New York State Creating Healthy Schools and Communities grant, seeking applications from Food Pantries of all sizes within select areas within the Capital Region for their Pantry Support program. This program provides one-on-one support to Food Pantries of all sizes, from once-a-month pop ups to permanent programs. We help by assessing your pantry’s needs, assisting with healthy food distribution policies, and supporting implementation – making it easy for your community to make healthy choices at the pantry. Your organization will also receive technical assistance from our team on best practices and strategies dedicated to your unique organization and its community.
Some examples of support can include the following (but are not limited to):
Purchases of commercial refrigerators or freezers;
Organizational supplies, such as shelving;
Indoor or outdoor garden tools and equipment;
Signage to encourage support of choosing healthy foods.
To be considered, pantries must be located in one of the following areas: Amsterdam, Albany, Cohoes, Mechanicville, Rensselear, Schenectady, Troy, or Watervliet. We are unable to consider pantries in other areas at this time.
