Roundtable Success!

The Greater Capital Region Food System Assessment Producer Roundtable Discussions had a fantastic turnout, including 160 farmers, producers and agriculture support organizations gathering to discuss barriers and identify opportunities within our foodshed. Participants were happy to have the chance to share their stories and ideas.

The feedback collected will identify barriers local farmers face in growing their businesses and accessing new markets. Farmers and producers were able to share common challenges, learn about new resources and most importantly, build relationships with one another. One farmer said to another, “Seeing as you need help on your farm, I would be happy to volunteer my time and learn from you.” Connections like these are a great benefit of these roundtables.

We are very pleased with the enthusiasm of our participants and look forward to the results that will be shared in Fall 2018.
