VeggieRx Expansion

We are very proud to announce the expansion of our VeggieRx program in partnership with Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Center. The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region awarded Capital Roots' Veggie Rx program $50,000 through the Hortense and Louis Rubin Community Health Fund.

So what is VeggieRx? Well it's just what the doctor ordered- a vegetable prescription! This produce prescription approach, operating since 2011, connects patients who have chronic health issues such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity with Whitney M. Young nutritionists.Through this program, patients receive coupon booklets containing coupons redeemable for fresh produce that’s offered on Capital Roots' Veggie Mobile® and Veggie Mobile® Sprout.

We are excited to continue our work with Whitney M. Young Health for a greener, healthier, accessible Capital Region and are grateful to the Community Foundation and the Rubin Fund for supporting our efforts.
